The Good,The Ugly and The Down Right Awful:Worlds Edition!

I haven't done one of these post's for ages so I thought I'd do a worlds edition for everyone! Worlds brought us color, fierce competition and an upset Komova! Let's take a look at some of them!

To be honest, I'm not a fan! The arm swirls are very creative and look good but the rest of the leotard is just plain red(that's the bit I'm not a fan of) Sponsors, go put your badges somewhere else, I think the symbols ruin all leotards! The leotards are like marketing or advertisement to some companies!

Sorry, plain doesn't work with us! It's vibrant, colorful or go home! Taking that back, It's a nice shade of blue...Awww! The 'flames' don't do it for me! But, Demmy's face is priceless!

We got vibrant, we got a pattern, we got a FUGLY one! Lucky she was Vietnamese and not one of the big nations as she would have had her spot taken away! Thi should carry on with the vaulting! Fashion and Vault=You can't have everything!

You can freaking kill me but, this one's alright! I mean screw the material but the patterns are pretty nice! And the colors are a DARN cool! When I see Marta I am suddenly drawn to her crazy, 'every other week dyed' hair! It's called the World Championships not a trial to be the next John Freida model! It's super simple, go out there, compete and don't give a care in the world about your stinkin' hair, it's delicious!

Guatemala are a growing Gymnastics nation, so I expected something in this field. Something that has as much pattern as a bacon sarnie but enhances the fact that Guatemala have never competed in a World Championships before. I don't feel so scrooge any more!

Another Dreamlight feat! JLO is the GIRLO with the DREAMLIGHTO! But with her former experiences of these exceptional leos (??) She just has to have them for Venezuela. Otherwise, this leo is OMNOMNOM! The spikes say 'WATCH OUT PEOPLE, JLO IS IN FULL UPGRADE MODE!' Dreamlight obviously get's her where she is now!bwahaha!

Well, that's enough leotard excitement for one day! As Vivienne Westwood (WOOD) say 'I am attracted to people who make this effort in knowing what suits them - they are individual and stylish.'

There you have it you fashionista gymnasts! Be original in your leotard reel, you heard it from a FREAKIN' EPIC designer!

2011: THE FLOOR EXERCISES!

I've decided to look back at some of the best routines of this year! Why not start with floor? Head shaking, booty popping seems like a requirement in Gymnastics dance series but aside from that junk...Here are 10 of my favorites this year(no order!)

1. Jordyn Wieber. I just love this exercise from J Wiebs. Her music is so dramatic and it fits so well! She's got some good dancing as well which works really well with the music! Her tumbles make me feel like an absolute fail:/ Double Double, 1 1/2 into Triple! Nelly! I've got WIEBER FEVER! Watch J Wiebs here!

2. Daria Elizarova. 'Who's she?' You may be saying but no one has had an unusual career like Dasha. She was bumped out of the Olympic Team by Liudmilla Grebenkova. Then, she moved to Uzbekistan. History aside, She has beautiful tumbling, perfect straight lines, pointed toes! 2.5 into full, triple then double pike! Much love for the music aswell. Watch Dasha at worlds here (13.666..robbed)

3. JLO! Jessica Lopez is an amazing gymnast! This routine shows enhances all her power with her elegance and beauty! Prior to Worlds, she had upgraded all her routines! She shows a full in back out and whip triple! Her dance is so expressive and explosive! I really want her too compete in another Olympics next year at the London games! With her upgrades, I definitely think that an Olympic AA is on the cards. Watch JLO's Routine here.

4. Diana Chelaru. The cheerful Romanian showed off her new floor routine at Worlds which I fell in love with! It's just like her old music in places but I adore it much more...We needed a new Chelaru! We see all the same tumbling passes as she did in 2010! The thing that I love about this routine is that she doesn't take it too seriously! She goes out there and enjoys dancing with the music! Watch Didi here.

5. Catalina Ponor. Comeback Queen of 2011..! The dancing is very good, she's got expression and uses it pretty well but the thing that annoys me is that her form in the tumbles is AWFUL! She has the very hard runs, she just needs to focus on the form and she will be in the floor final at London. Watch Cata here.

6. Alexandra Raisman. As if Marta gives a damn about expressive choreo! I love her dancing numbers but I wish that she would give a tad more expression but Marta says 'NO!'. Her tumbling passes really speak for themselves..double arabian PUNCH FRONT! In my opinion, she has all the potential to make an All-around and Floor final at next years Olympics. Watch Aly here.

7. Hannah Whelan. There's not a lot stopping Hannah make a splash on the World scene. Over the past 2 years, she has done amazingly well in International event and has improved drastically in her World AA rankings! Her tumbling is definitely consistent, whip triple & 1.5 into 2.5! Training with Tweds has definitely given her the edge to compete at her best and I think an Olympic AA final will be given too her! Watch Hannah here.

8. McKayla Maroney. Kayla has burst onto the scene and she's nearly seen it all! She has quite a lot of expression in her dance! The tumbling is the highlight for me though! 3.5 is INSANE! But, SERIOUSLY! That 3rd pass isn't doing her alot of favors! It's an on and off IF-y pass which could lose her 0.3-0.5 points...NOT WORTH IT! The music is nom as well!

9.

NO FRENCH INTERNATIONAL?

The Paris World Cup or French International usually attracts the likes of China, Russia and many more big names. But, the International Gymnastics Federation announced earlier in the week that the Competition may be cancelled.

The action has been taken as the Pacific Rim Gymnastic Tournament is on the same weekend and the bigger names and countries have commited to the other competition. Aside from the Pacific Rim competitors, they would've competed but China, Russia, USA and many more teams are out on that bigger competition.

SHELGUNOVA TAKES TOP GYM!

A few days ago, the TopGym Gymnastics Tournament for the younger generation of gymnastics was held. After a great round, Yevgenia Shelgunova took the Gold medal for Russia. She scored a 14.65 for the vault. Italy's Alessia Leolini won the silver medal. Shallon Ohlsen, the young Canadian with a huge gymnastics talent, rose to 3rd with a 15.05 vault score.

HUANG VICTORIOUS

There wasn't any surprises that Chinese star Huang Qiushuang would take the title. Huang had won the DTB Pokal all-around event prior to the Tokyo competition.

Starting with vault, Huang pulled out a cracking DTY nearlly sticking it giving her a 14.933. Second highest scorer for vault was 10th place World AA finisher Nadine Jarosch. Kim Bui managed a 14.733! Kim has been great all year round!

Moving to the piece that is so hard physically, Uneven Bars.
Again, Huang was the top scorer on the Unevens with 14.633. No other girl could managed to score in the 14s, which meant second place went to Kim Bui. In 3rd, Mary-Ann Monckton.

To the event that is mentally impossible? Beam
It was a close beam top and second but again Huang Qiushuang pulled out all the stops to have the highest score and score in the 14s. Yu Minobe was the 2nd highest scorer with 14.2. Mary-Anne Monckton again was in the top 3.

Dance and Tumbling is the key to Floor success.

Huang Qiushuang won floor!

She's been truly great throughout the whole competition and therefore deserves the win.

Congratulations Huang!

Not only are you Tokyo Cup winner but you are 'Gymnast of the week'!

NANNING 2014!

The FIG have announced that the 2014 World Gymnastics Championships are going to Nanning, China. It was reported that Nanning was the only bidder but the announcement was 6 months late with additional negotiations. The event is scheduled for the 3-12th of October! Surprisingly, This is only China's second Worlds, following the 1999 Tianjin Worlds.

The event is being held at the Guanxi Sports Center!

CHINESE CHAMPS:)

Hong Kong was the stage for the Chinese Individual Championships. No Teams just the girls and boys doing it for themselves. The Hong Kong National Team was also included in the event.

The All-around competition went to 2009 World Beam Champion Deng Linlin. Deng only competed a 1/1 (full) twisting yurchenko on vault but it was enough to secure her Gold. Huang Huidan was the second place finisher. Chen Shiuhua won the bronze medal.

In the women's vault, National Champion Li Yiting showed that she wasn't ready to give her Champion Vault title away yet, blowing the field away with a 14.613 Average. Angel Wong couldn't answer to that level of Vaulting but still managed to get a Silver medal on home turf! 2010 Pacific Rim Vault Finalist Jiang Tong won the Bronze!

Peiru, an upcoming junior, manged to pull out an amazing 14.925 Bars set and she also blew away the field. Huidan was hot on her heels but 14.650 is still a great score for silver! Xiao Kangjun, the Universiade competitor, was the bronze medalist.

In Beam,

1. Huang Huidan
1. Feng Xiao
3. Xie Biying

Floor,

1.Deng Linlin
2. Lou Nina
3. Li Shanshan

Shame for Angel Ying Wong who placed 4th. :'(

MARSEILLE MASS!

The Massila Cup was the most exciting Gym event this week, I would say.

Russians, French, Canadians, Belgians and more were all here!

In the teams,

Russia stormed to victory (not surprisingly) above France in second. The Canadian girls pulled out a Bronze medal performance.

In the all-around, It was the golden girl Viktoriya Komova who took the gold medal. I haven't seen any coverage but I've heard she performed a cracking beam set! Anyway, It was the Victoria's day because Victoria Moors, an uprising Canadian, managed to get a silver medal all-around. Breaking the chain, was Australia's Emily Little. She had a rough time at the DTB AA but not here. Bronze.

GYMNAST OF THE WEEK RETURNS:)

Since, The World Gymnast moved to Blogger, we haven't done Gymnast of the week. I've decided that I must do it as we need to reward talent to International Gymnasts. A Gymnast could be Gymnast of the Week by winning a recent meet, coming back after injury or something else but it has to be recent.(1-2 weeks.)

I've decided to give the first 'GYMNAST OF THE WEEK' to THI HA PHAN OF VIETNAM!

As we all know, Vietnam isn't a huge nation in Gymnastics and they aren't up their with other countries but the good thing is, the gymnasts from the lower countries will fight until they get a medal on the World stage and start putting their country on the map. I think that Thi Ha is a perfect example of exactly that. She won the Gold at last year's Porto World Cup on vault but she was still hungry for more!

October 2011, The World Gymnastics Championships, the 2nd biggest World Gymnastics' event. With a great qualifying round, Thi Phan had managed to advance to the Final of the Vault, A first for any Vietnamese Gymnast.

In the event final, she showed her lovely Handspring Rudi and 1 1/2 and landed in the Bronze medal position, also a first for any Vietnamese gymnast.

Recently, the Sea Games was held and she also stormed to victory on vault and also medaled with compatriot Thi Ngan Thoung Do, the 2008 Olympian, in the all-around.

Thi deserves this the most for this fortnight's work!

KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK THI!

Yvette Moshage, a double representative at World Championship Level for the Netherlands, hurt herself on her beam dismount at this weekend's DTB Pokal Cup. An update in De Telegraf Telesport said that Moshage has had an MRI on her knee. There was too much fluid to have the correct extent of the inju
ry.

I hope she has a quick recovery<3

DTB TEAM FINALS!

Well! There was lot's of thrills and spills from the bits I saw of the TF at DTb Stuttgart!

Russia won the event eventually, Yulia Inshina, Alyena Polan and Yulia Belo. The Australian camp were the second place winners. Lauren Mitchell did a great floor routine but she was most certainly flirting with the lines. Fortunately, the amount of times she did, she only landed on the line and she had already jumped out of the tumble! The Dutch were one girl down after the final rotation as Yvette Moshage had an awful landing and twisted her body to the ground. It look very painful! I also saw a stretcher on the sidelines. Yulia Belokobylskaya, from what I saw, was good. She had a nice bar set but It wasn't the hardest. Nikki Chung, unfortunately fell on her double pikes. On double somi falling subjects, I was upset to see Pia Tolle have a great routine then fall and only get 11.95.
She did have some lovely connections.

DTB VID!

I'm so happy! I managed to find DTB Cup coverage on youtube. Thanks to GutsuFan, I'll show some of the routines. It's as amazing because Eli Seitz is in the commentary box!
