THE FASHIONISTA: WHO'S WEIRDER?

We take a new look into 2 very weird outfitted gymnasts and we see who is actually weirder.
Now, your wondering who they are? Take a wild guess;

1 is; CROATIAN
1 is; SLOVENIAN

any ideas yet?;

Well, it's Tina Erceg (CRO) and Adela Sajn (SLO). Now, these ladies are veterans to the sport, they must have been around for 8-10 years so they know what they are doing but there leotard choices haven't been destroyed. Shall we take a look at Tina's 3 weird leotards;

    ^wrong on so many levels but very original.

          ^ strange and quite ugly. But, the neck is WAY,WAY too HIGH CUT!!! AAAARGH

              ^boring with a ghastly peep whole.

and for Adela;

^ oh! hay there Adela. What's wrong with this leotard? EVERYTHING.

^ this is just like the 1st one but I don't think it is as bad but still awful.

^ Spanny's ''pube curls'' strike again.

So questions;

who has the weirdest wardrobe?
what was the weirdest leotard from Tina and Adela?
and, what was the weirdest leotard out of all 6?

THE ONE'S THAT GOT AWAY: PART 3

I don't know if this is mean't to be part 3 or 4 because I haven't done the one's that got away for such a long time, but to recap, ''the one's that got away'' is a series of where we look back on some of the world's gymnasts that just slid away with no real international elite reckoning, obviously some did but some didn't.

STELIANA NISTOR

Unfortunately, Stella retired in 2009 which was very sad, as she was a big loss because she brought a big score to the Romanian team on bars, their typically ''weakest'' piece. At the 2008 olympics, she did make all-around and bars finals, but she came 6th in the final. To be honest, Nistor had a very successful gymnastics career.

IRINA PAUN

I haven't seen Irina for 2 years. I am very shocked that she has ''quit'' gymnastics because I thought she was going to be Romania's ''big break'' junior athlete. She made her way onto the International junior stage in 2010, mainly at the Massila meet in France. Since that meet & Bumbo, she hasn't been around a lot. It's a shame really because she was going to be a star.

ANNA MYZDRIKOVA

I'm not sure about her, I think she is still training but Russia have really killed her off. Her senior year was in 2009 and that was the highlight of her whole career, the whole of 2009. She did well at the Europeans in Milan and she also made 2 finals at the World Championships in London. Since 2010, she competed at the 2010 Glasgow Grand Prix but before that meet she was reserve for Russia in Rotterdam and didn't even make the cut for the Europeans. That's the last we've really seen from her.

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED FROM EUROS?

So, the Euros was a big event this year but what have we learned from it? I know that it is the lead up to the Olympics so we expected good stuff, what happened?

LARISA IORDACHE SHOULD HAVE THE TRIPLE TWIST NAMED AFTER HER.
Larisa Iordache was the star of the show really, she has difficulty, beauty and grace but something to note is her triple twist. Easy, beautiful, should be called IORDACHE.

CHANTYSA NETTEB IS DEFINITELY A VAULT CONTENDER FOR SENIORS
Netherlands' Chantya Netteb is a highly touted vaulter and she didn't disappoint this year. Yurchenko 1/1 and Yurchenko 1.5 with height, grace and beauty, Chantysha was always a level ahead.

MARIA KHARENKOVA IS A BIG THREAT.

Yes, although Maria Kharenkova didn't win the all-around, she won 2 golds for Individual finals. Russia have built up their Russian team and she is the peak of success for them.

HANNAH WHELAN HAS AN ADDICTION TO BRONZE.

What is it with Hannah and Bronze? Anyway, 2 bronze medals out of 2 finals is great for U.K. I love her floor routine especially because she has whacky and quirky choreography which makes the audience come alive. Good Girl Han!

ROMANIA COULD EASY BRONZE IN LONDON.

I'm feeling that this is going to be a repeat of what we saw 4 years ago in Beijing, Romania clenching bronze from Russia or maybe China. With Iordache, Izbasa, Ponor, they are too strong to not medal. I actually think they could push for silver.

BRITAIN NEEDED BETH!

Personally, I knew that Britain were going to find it hard going into competition without their team player, Beth Tweddle, and I think their position reflected. I mean 4th place is a great achievement but with beth knocking out her bars with 15+s and 14's on floor, they could have squeezed to bronze position but then again, there was a beam bonanza, which Beth Tweddle wouldn't be able to help out with because she only competes bars and floor but at least they kept her for the big Olympic Games.

KOMOVA HOLDING BACK?

I came to the telly, hoping to see Victoria Komova debut her new bars dismount, the fabrichinova (double double) but where was it? I think maybe she's keeping it in the locker for the Olympics but why? Everyone knows she is doing it because it went viral about a month ago, or maybe she had nerves? Better save it for London? Either way, another bars gold medal in her back pocket isn't too shabby.

A SPOT ON THE OLYMPIC PODIUM FOR SANDRA?

I really hope so. Sandra Izbasa has been working very hard on her vaulting and potentially her clean lines, height and grace could get her their. She's got difficulty to back up the execution but can she amanar? That's the thing? Could she challenge for gold if she upgrades or should she settle for 2nd or 3rd. If Maroney's upgrading to TTYs and Chengs, gold is out of the question.

thanks for reading;)

GYMNAST OF THE WEEK: 6.5.12-13.5.12

Meet this week's, Gymnast of The Week. Of course, you probably have an idea who it is because she was a star at this week's European Gymnastics Championships that sadly finished today. She is a first year senior, from a nation beginning with 'R'.

No Ideas?

Well, It is;

LARISA IORDACHE OF ROMANIA

Yes, we decided that we had to give the award to her because her performances this week have been absolutely outstanding. Romania have definitely shown that they are a force to be reckoned with as a team but as an individual, she could snatch it from Wieber, Komova etc. She was the ''UN-OFFICIAL'' all-around winner but she also won floor and got a silver on beam.
Congratulations Lari.

Rounding off this week's excellence is the runner-up. This girl managed to give to 2 great performances at today's competition with 2 medals. She's B---i-h, any guesses?

Yes, It's Hannah Whelan from GBR. 2 bronze medals is a great achievement and a big stepping stone towards the Olympics.
Congrats Han.

BRUSSELS 2012: TEAM FINAL FASHIONISTA & NOTES

Yesterday, was the Senior Team Final at the Belgium Expo. Fortunately, I was able to watch it because they were showing it live on BBC1 Red Button. If you don't know, Romania took the top spot (mainly courtesy of Iordache), Russia bitterly took the silver medal and Italy managed to squeeze in for bronze. If Great Britain had Beth Tweddle and Hannah/Jennifer hadn't of fallen off beam, we would have placed (for sure!!) 5th was the French team, bad dismount of beam for Youna Dufournet and she also had a nasty gienger scare. Valentine Sabatou also fell straight onto her knees on floor. The home nation, Belgium, took the 6th place. BBC didn't show many of their routines but Grand'ry had a nice bars set. Mys was also pretty faultless on beam & vault. Spain took 7th, Izurieta really didn't look all to great on floor. Paula Vargas was good on floor but that's all we saw of them. Same with 8th placed, Germany, we only saw the beam routine from Kim Bui, where she fell. Now, we take a look at the fashion side from each team.

Photos from senior women's team finals at the 2012 European Gymnastics Championships.

Simple, Nice, GOLDEN! Romania pulled off the casual look very well. The pattern with the colors is really nice and I think they all look great in white (I suppose you've got to if you are a Romanian gymnast.) BRING ON FINALS TODAY!

The 'wrapped for christmas' leotard. I don't like this one, the flag does look like they are a christmas present. Great Britain usually pull out the leotard goods but it didn't too it for me.

That was Youna's bad gienger. I think this is very basic, quite tired and France need a variety of leos but this automatically is in the wardrobe for any meet, so I think it'll be hard to loose.

Russia's Anastasia Sidorova Performs

Lush. Russia really did persuade me. The pattern is NOM, the color is NOM and whole design is NOM. Meet your new 'NOMNOMNOM' leotard.

Does this count as Spanny's 'the pube curls'? ask her! Nice design but I tire of seeing pink, I'm glad the event is over today! (well.....not really.)

my favorite one of the competition. I am beginning to think that Purple is totally my leotard color preference. It looks so snazzy, so hip, YES, italy.

Tired, Bored, *yawns*

I like this one. Nice to see something fresh from the Spanish camp, not just that ugly, black/silver shitty one.

On BBC1 Red Button at 12:45pm (13th May) is today Junior/Senior apparatus finals from Brussels Expo. Official twitter hashtag; #Brussels2012 Our twitter; @TWGgymblog
